Aliran’s Anil Netto talks to Palestine Solidarity, Penang coordinator Tong Veng Wye about the the current geopolitical volatility in West Asia, criticising recent military strikes as “uncivilised” behaviour that undermines ongoing negotiations.
He argues that the struggle in Palestine serves as a central lens through which to understand global patterns of imperial dominance and settler colonialism.
Finally, he calls for people in Malaysia to move beyond communal views of this conflict, advocating instead for a universal commitment to human rights and justice while urging his government to address its own complicit economic ties.
