On the first day of trial for the new year, the prosecution tried to get Najib Razak impeached over alleged contradictions between what he had told the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission and what he had told the court. Patrick Teoh presents for the Malaysian Insight.

But the judge threw out the application for impeachment. And so the cross-examination of Najib as a witness in his own trial continued – with the former PM holding fast to what is looking to be his mantra: that he was too busy running the country to notice that his signature had been forged.
