Sivaranjani Manickam has been elected the new secretary general of the Socialist Party of Malaysia (PSM) at its 26th national congress, which took place at the end of July.

The former workers’ bureau coordinator of the party takes over the reins from Sivarajan Arumugam, who was PSM secretary general for nine years.

Sivaranjani has been an activist for over 20 years and PSM member for almost as long. She had also worked for the UN refugee agency.
