Reckoning with Wawasan 2020

A conversation with Khoo Boo Teik and Lim Sheau Yun – a webinar organised by A+ Works of Art.

It is 2021, yet we are still grappling with the long shadow of Wawasan 2020 and Dr Mahathir Mohamad. This conversation hopes to provide political and social context to the announcement of Wawasan 2020 in 1991, examine some of its key projects and ideas, and finally to think about the larger sociocultural footprint of Wawasan 2020.

More than political plan, how did Wawasan 2020 frame aspirations and ideals for the future of the nation? What does Wawasan mean in a post-2020 world?

Dr Khoo, I think I understand your kind intentions.
But like Bangsa Malaysia, you are flogging a dead horse with Wawasan 2020.
Notice how quiet the political elites were with respects Wawasan 2020 last year?
