Malaysia’s healthcare system is under scrutiny after Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) uncovered troubling practices in the private hospital industry.
TheGoodCastNews breaks down the PAC’s findings, including allegations that patients using ‘guarantee letters’ are being charged more than cash-paying patients, hospitals separating charges for basic necessities already expected to be included in room fees, and mark-ups of up to 300% on medicines and medical supplies.
It also examines why health insurance premiums continue to rise, whether private hospitals or insurers bear greater responsibility, and the PAC’s recommendations to reform the healthcare payment system.
