Of allegations and upcoming elections

Dr Maszlee Malik - ANIL NETTO

The ongoing allegations against Dr Maszlee Malik and Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman have prompted both to point out that it’s all happening very close to the upcoming Johor state election.

BFM speaks to Professor James Chin from the University of Tasmania; Shazwan Mustafa Kamal, an associate director of Vriens & Partners; and Cynthia Gabriel from the Centre to Combat Corruption and Cronyism (C4).

First, they look into the claims that these are intimidation tactics before exploring why it is important for elected representatives to be transparent and declare their assets. Finally, we discuss how social media factors into all of this.
