Since Umno’s withdrawal of support for the Negri Sembilan chief minister, the party has sent mixed signals about the way forward, first signalling that it would cooperate with Perikatan National’s five state legislative assembly members but later backpedalling on that position.

Without a coherent opposition in the 36-seat assembly, Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun, two short of a majority, is set to hang on for now.

BFM talks to Ibrahim Suffian, the co-founder and programmes director of the Merdeka Center for Opinion Research ,about whether this double crisis might trigger a national one.
