Making our cities spongey

During a parliament session, Klang MP Charles Santiago mentioned the need to look into the ‘sponge city’ concept as a long-term solution to the flooding problem.

BFM talks to scientist and soil expert Dr Kam Suan Pheng and Dr Camelia May Li Kusumo, a senior lecturer in the School of Architecture and Building Design, Taylor’s University, about the idea behind the sponge city concept and how it would solve the flooding issue.

They also explore how it might look like in Kuala Lumpur and what needs to be done to make it work.
