Malaysia’s opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim said people deserve a “fresh start” with him as the next prime minister, instead of former Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad taking over the role for the third time. However, he is willing to consider a senior minister or minister mentor portfolio for Mahathir, if Pakatan Harapan is returned to power.

Speaking to CNA’s Melissa Goh in an exclusive interview, Anwar also conceded that a snap election may be called before the opposition manages to unseat the current government.
