There have been calls by the government to reinstate local council elections, starting with the capital city first in efforts to strengthen democracy in the federal territories.

Newly appointed Federal Territories Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa has said she will discuss the proposal but that she has other pressing priorities.

BFM talks to Danesh Prakash Chacko, director of Tindak Malaysia, about why there should be no delay in this.
