To talk about economics, finance and international policy is to talk about people. In this light, it is fitting to recall some of the important elements of the right to development.

First, the late Martin Khor liked to emphasise that the human person is the central subject of development. Development ultimately is about people, not companies or economies in the abstract sense of the word. It is about how countries perform to serve the interests of their people.

For developing countries to fully realise the right to development, Martin argues, we need a new international order.
