One of the big stories coming out of Pakatan Harapan’s defeat in the recent Negeri Sembilan state election was DAP secretary general Anthony Loke loss in the Chennah seat.
Loke first won the seat in 2013 from the Barisan Nasional’s MCA and, after 13 years, lost the seat to the MCA again. In the light of this defeat, he announced that he would be stepping down as the Negeri Sembilan DAP chief after 22 years.
BFM discusses Loke’s defeat and what that signifies with Aliran’s Dr Khoo Ying Hooi, an associate professor of international relations and human rights at the University of Malaya. She recently wrote an article titled ‘Anthony Loke’s first defeat in 22 years and what it tells us’.
