A critical discussion on a controversial campaign to get voters to spoil their votes if they are uninspired by the contesting parties or candidates.

As for me, I will vote for my MP and state assemblywoman who have supported and helped us in us residents’ opposition to an elevated highway through our neighbourhood.

As for whether Barisan or Pakatan will win – well que sera, sera.

Looking at both sides of the issue, #Undirosak advocates and supporters such as Maryam Lee, Hafidz Baharom. Dr. Kua Kia Soong and others object to acceptance of Bersatu (or Pribumi) into the Pakatan Harapan and Dr. Mahathir being made Pakatan Chairman, and thus feel that the objectives of the Reformasi movement and the struggle for reform and change has been negated and we are back to proverbial square one.

On the other hand, Lim Kit Siang, Hishamuddin Rais, Mariam Mokhtar and others see this move as a necessary strategic alliance or united front to defeat UMNO/BN to win GE14 by reaching into the rural Malay heartlands with the help of Mahathir, especially after the breakup between DAP and PAS. Also, Bersatu could well split the UMNO vote in the rural heartlands, especially in three-cornered fights between UMNO, Bersatu and PAS.

If beating the BN to win in GE14 is one’s priority, then I believe Sun Tsu, Mao, Che Guevara and most military strategists would recommend the latter approach, despite the risks of former allies falling out and turning on each other after victory.
