No good time for Najib

7

As a stream of corruption allegations against Najib’s government dents its image and the economy slumbers, it is unlikely public opinion will turn his way anytime soon, writes Anil Netto.

Malaysia’s ruling coalition is having second thoughts about holding an early snap general election. The problem for Prime Minister Najib Razak and his United Malays Nasional Organization (UMNO)-led administration, however, is that time is running short to win a pre-emptive electoral advantage before the current five-year parliamentary term expires in April 2013.

Speculation about snap elections has intensified as parties led by opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim’s Parti Keadilan Rakyat (People’s Justice Party) begin to fancy their chances of wresting power from UMNO and the Barisan Nasional coalition for the first time since independence.

A steady stream of corruption allegations against Najib’s government has dented its public image and, amid economic weakness, has raised popular concern that the country cannot sustain the endemic official hemorrhage. Earlier vows by Najib to repeal, reform or replace some of the country’s more anti-democratic laws, meanwhile, have failed to give Umno any popular momentum as officials have maintained heavy-handed tactics against political dissent.

You call 1Malaysia when: 1)You practice extreme discrimination & apartheid, eg: when almost 100% of National Oil Petronas’employees are Malays, while other races are 50% of the population (more in Sarawak & Sabah), when President Obama’s black ethnicity comprises only 14% of US population. 2) When Chinese & Indians & Dayaks are (in many cases) the last to get University entry of gov’t jobs. 3). You PM spent RM200mil on a plane & 3 million on a trip to Dubai, Milan (super luxury goods’ capitals) when the many are poor. 4) (They interrogated) Opposition’s Teoh B H (and this directly or indirectly led) to his death over an alleged few thousand RM$ till morning before his wedding, while Scorpene costs in all a few billion RM$ with a large chunk for (‘commission’); subsequent dynamite murder of a Mongolian lover & aide, then (one of the accused) goes scot-free into London’s luxury living….the list is endless. The most nauseating (vomiting) regime in Asia now. Am speaking as a neutral 3rd party in NZ – rated among the top 3 in the world for transparency and democracy.

Your PM calls ‘1Malaysia’, when: A) Sabah’s Musa, NFC’s Shahzirat….& Sarawak’s Taib, in power 31 yrs & … one son’s divorce settlement alone is RM400mil….while Sarawak natives lack roads, electricity & drinking water. B) UMNO’s corruption & mismanagement cost the country US $100 billions (not millions) as estimated by overseas financial analysts. C) They make up stories to blackmail Anwar, the Opposition, the NGOs & Bersih…for decades. D) For 55 years UMNO & BN fooled and fleeced the nation with controlled media, national election resources, gerrymandering, vote buying, rigging & manipulated elections, even (allegedly) using illegal migrants as voters….the list of injustice & crimes is endless. Call for the arrests and trials of UMNO, BN, PBB & MACC leaders now. In the democratic West they won’t last 1 month, let alone 55 years. Anwar, PAS, Nurul, Ambiga, Lim G E etc, will form a clean, democratic, less racist but more progressive economy like Singapore, Korea & Germany.

An economist at Morgan Stanley in Singapore said that the Malaysia might have lost as much as US$100billion since the early 1980s to corruption (=RM300billion = 300,000million).Some of the Wastages & losses: Perwaja RM10bil. Forex fiasco early 90s RM30bil. Maminco scandal RM1.6bil. Bank Bumiputra Scandal RM10bil. STAR-LRT bailout RM3.25bil. RM38.5bil compensation to highway companies. PSC Dockyard wasted RM6.7bil. Submarines wasted RM4.1bil. Putra transport system, cost RM4.48bil. Maminco scandal RM1.6bil. PKFZ 12bil. Bank Islam RM700mil. M.V. Agusta & Proton lost RM348mil. Wang Ehsan, oil royalty Terengganu RM7.4bil. Philharmonic Orchestra has swallowed a total of RM500mil. Bailouts of Malaysia Airline System RM7.9bil. Spent RM3.2bil in teaching Maths & Science in English over 5 yrs. RM1.3bil wasted on the white elephant Customs, Immig & Quarantine (CIQ) facilities on cancellation of the Scenic Bridge. National Service Training Programme yearly estimate of RM 500mil. Jets and submarines (‘commissions’) to Perimeker & …. RM250m in NFC Cowgate scandal. You don’t find one sentence on the Scorpene scandal in the mainstream press, New Straits Times, The Star, Utusan Malaysia and Berita Harian. You don’t hear a word about the Scorpene scandal on RTM 1 radio. You don’t see a single picture about the Scorpene scandal on RTM TV1, RTM TV2 or TV3. Tells you something, doesn’t it? Namely, that it is such a BIG thing and not a whimper about it in the mainstream media mean the so-called journalists, radio and tv broadcasters are all UMNO-MCA-MIC paid goons. This is deception & blind-folding, to support multi-billion (deals). This is crime against the people, of astronomical proportion, against the people that elected them! Malaysia, you should have awakened 40 years ago. Malaysia’s great tragedy. The people must have lost some RM300 billion (RM300,000million) or more.

Call for the resignation & arrest of UMNO, MACC & PBB leaders NOW. Twitter quote: ‘Mubarak cried and resisted leaving the helicopter that took him to prison.’ Let this, Gaddaffi & Saddam etc be a warning to others. Your PM’s Impeachment & CM’s arrest are long overdue. Scorpene scandal is only the tip of the iceberg. Think, before the arrival of internet media, twitter & blogs, how much has been plundered, squandered and hidden by Sarawak’s PBB & KL’s UMNO. Malaysia has become a big laughing stock. Howard Zinn: “….…Our problem is that people are obedient all over the world in the face of poverty and starvation and stupidity, and war, and cruelty. Our problem is that people are obedient while the jails are full of petty thieves…(and) the grand thieves are running the country. That’s our problem.” Don’t tolerate another day, not even another hour!

RM200 million for your PM’s new plane. RM3 mil for PM & Rosmah’s recent trip but official plane also landed in Milan & Dubai -the capitals of super-luxury goods. Mahathir’s sons are directors of (a string of) companies and drive some of the most expensive cars in the world? eg the Ferrari Enzo & the RM5.5million Bugatti Veyron…Sarawak’s Taib 31 yrs in power, now a multi-billionaire, his daughter in law’s divorce claim alone is RM400million ….. Hell is awaiting ! Many men in the street can’t even buy a car, let alone a house ! natives in Sarawak had their land grabbed from them, many don’t even have electricity & good drinking water….

The morons from Umno very much like you to think that the government is run by the coalition. Just look at cabinet, all the senior, money making and important posts are always headed by a minister from Umno. Look at civil services they too are headed by either morons from Umno or their lackeys. Starting with the AG, IGP, CJ, 99% of the Ambassadors and so on and so forth when the coalition partners are given only minor and unimportant ministries just to show that the coalition partners have a say in the government. Most important of all they are in the cabinet just to endorse whatever the morons are scheming and that all the decisions are made collectively. Since when have you heard of their opinions been implemented or any of their objections raised ? If the morons are fair and just there wouldn’t be so many protests or rallies in the streets ? Almost everyday, if not for the impediments, there is a protest or rally being organised, why ? All Najib and company can do is to hand out money, more money, just… Read more »
