Aliran member and civil rights activist Lim Chin Chin has passed away at the age of 68.
Lim was detained without trial under the Internal Security Act (ISA) on the night of 27 October 1987 and released seven months later on 3 June 1988.
At the time of her Operation Lalang arrest, she was involved in the Women’s Development Collective (WDC) and the All Women’s Action Society (Awam).
Lim’s photo was among those splashed on the front page of The Star on 28 October 1987 with the caption “Miss Lim Chin Chin – Aliran women’s leader”.
This harrowing account of her 60 days in solitary confinement was written shortly after her release. Read her full story here.
