Dear donors
We would like to say thank you and express our deepest appreciation to you.
You donated generously to our recent Palestine solidarity event, SUMUD – Existence is Resistance, which was held from 29 November to 12 December 2025 in Penang to great success.
In fact, it generated such success and sparked such interest that we extended the Gaza Habibti photographic exhibition at the Hin Bus Depot to the end of December.
It could not have been done without both your material support and solidarity with the cause.

The event, SUMUD, spread awareness of the Palestinian situation through art, culture and performance. It platformed Palestinian art, poetry, dance, voices, dressing, embroidery, even food by Palestinians.
The Palestinians are victims of an ongoing colonial injustice that continues to this day. But SUMUD allowed us to see them not just as victims but also as people with a whole history and culture, like everyone else.
Importantly, Malaysian artists performed in solidarity together with Palestinian artists at the event.
Equally important, SUMUD was very multi-ethnic in its organisation, participation and audience make-up – something so important in the general context of Malaysia and in terms of our public response to the Palestine issue.
We are very grateful that the donation drive for the SUMUD event collected more than needed for the event itself. The amounts will only be finalised after the end of December.
At this point, however, the total donations and collections come to about RM46,000. Most of it was donations, with a small amount coming from the sale of exhibition photographs, postcards, key chains and the like.
The total expenses amount to about RM28,000, with 45% paid to Palestinian artists for their artworks, workshops and performance, and 55% covering the full production costs of SUMUD.
This leaves a balance of RM18,000 out of which RM4,000 will be set aside as starting money to organise a similar event in Kuala Lumpur in 2026 (a core group of the organisers is going to build on this success and bring it forward to KL!).
Of the RM14,000 left, about RM2,000 goes to Untold Palestine, who helped us put together the Gaza Habibti photographic exhibition mentioned above.
Leaving, thus, RM12,000 as humanitarian aid for Gaza that, despite the so-called ‘ceasefire’ in October 2025, continues to suffer multiple deprivations and killings at the hands of Israel and its backers to the enabling silence of much of the world.
This approximately RM12,000 of humanitarian aid will be channelled to Gaza through Viva Palestina Malaysia.
We will publish the final figures after the finalisation of accounts expected in January 2026.
Once again, a big thank you to all donors and contributors.
