Gabungan Bertindak Malaysia (GBM) condemns in the strongest term the Israeli raid [on 5 April] on the Al-Aqsa Mosque in East Jerusalem, and urges the international community to pressure Israel to end this annual raid on the third holiest mosque for Muslims in the holy month of Ramadan.
This annual raid of the Al-Aqsa Mosque is adding insult to injury for Palestinians, Arabs and Muslims around the world who are deeply pained by the Israeli occupation of the West Bank and Gaza strip. It had [in the past] and can explode into wider and greater conflicts that destablise the Middle East and beyond.
In May 2021 following the Al-Aqsa raid, at least 256 Palestinians died and more than 1,900 were wounded in the Gaza Strip while 13 others were killed in Israel.
Over 150 Palestinians were wounded in the 2022 Al-Aqsa raid, and one killed.
GBM urges the international community, especially the US as the biggest backer of Israel, to act decisively and effectively to not just end the annual raid on Al-Aqsa but also to build a peaceful and just coexistence between both the Palestinians and the Israelis.

GBM wishes to point out that American connivance in Israel’s colonisation of Palestine has contributed to cynicism by the Global South in the US’ sincerity in upholding democracy and human rights.

As a non-Muslim, I could not pray in Al-Aqsa. My visit inspired me to do just
that but, soon enough, uniformed guards surrounded me. The language was
hard, but I understood fast.
Al-Aqsa is one of the most celebrated holy places in the world. But, brother,
you pray at your own risk! All Malaysians better remember this!
