A group of youth who gathered at Dataran Merdeka tonight to mourn those who have lost their lives to Covid were harassed, manhandled and arrested by Dang Wangi Police with no explanation or grounds.
We strongly condemn the police for such abuse of power and unprofessional conduct.
The right to peaceful assembly is guaranteed by the Federal Constitution. The police, as law enforcers themselves, must respect and uphold the highest law of the land.
We call on the police to immediately and unconditionally release all the participants of the memorial service. – Bersih 2.0 steering committee
