Jawatankuasa pemilihan bagi pilihan raya Gabungan Pilihan Raya Bersih dan Adil (Bersih 2.0) sukacita mengumumkan bahawa pemilihan jawatankuasa pemandu sesi 2020-2022 telah dijalankan dengan jayanya pada 7 November dan keputusannya adalah seperti berikut:

  • Pengerusi: Thomas Fann
  • Timbalan pengerusi: Dr Abdul Halim Yusof
  • Naib-pengerusi Sabah: Beverly Joeman
  • Naib-pengerusi Sarawak: Ann Teo Chiang Joo
  • Bendahari: Ngeow Chow Ying

Ahli jawatankuasa:

  • Alex Johnson
  • Akmal Hisham Abdul Rahim

Seramai 19 pertubuhan dalam Bersih 2.0 telah mengundi, mewakili 33% peratusan mengundi daripada 57 pertubuhan dalam gabungan ini.

Thomas Fann telah dipilih sebagai pengerusi Bersih 2.0 bagi penggal kedua. Turut mengekalkan jawatan adalah Ann Teo, Edlyn Beverly Joeman, Ngeow Chow Ying dan Alex Johnson yang kekal sebagai naib-pengerusi Sarawak, naib-pengerusi Sabah, bendahari dan ahli jawatankuasa.

Halim, timbalan pengerusi yang baru dipilih, mempunyai rekod yang luas dalam bidang perubatan dan akademik. Sepanjang kerjaya beliau, Halim telah menunjukkan kesediaan beliau di dalam politik dan aktiviti sosial melalui beberapa NGO, badan pemikir, dan sebelum ini sebagai sebahagian jawatankuasa pemandu Bersih 2.0.

Ahli jawatankuasa baharu yang dipilih Akmal Hisham adalah ahli akademik yang cemerlang dalam bidang politik dan kini memegang jawatan sebagai ahli exco Angkatan Belia Islam Malaysia (Abim).

Dalam ucapan beliau selepas keputusan pemilihan diumumkan, pengerusi pasukan jawatankuasa pemandu yang baharu, Thomas Fann, mengucapkan setinggi penghargaan kepada ahli jawatankuasa pemandu di atas dedikasi dan ketabahan mereka sepanjang sesi kepimpinan.

Beliau mengalukan kehadiran ahli baharu dan ahli yang kekal menjadi jawatankuasa untuk sesi 2020-2022 serta mengharapkan ahli jawatankuasa ini akan mengemudi gerakan ini menempuhi samudera yang tidak menentu oleh situasi politik terkini dan wabak Covid-19 bagi menggapai pencapaian yang lebih tinggi.

New team elected for Bersih 2.0 steering committee for 2020-2022 term

The election committee of the Coalition for Clean and Fair Elections (Bersih 2.0) is pleased to announce that the steering committee election for the 2020-2022 term was successfully held on 7 November and the result is as follow:

Bersih 2.0 steering committee for the 2020-2022 term:

  • Chairperson: Thomas Fann
  • Deputy chairperson: Dr Abdul Halim Yusof
  • Vice-chair for Sabah: Edlyn Beverly Joeman
  • Vice-chair for Sarawak: Ann Teo Chiang Joo
  • Treasurer: Ngeow Chow Ying

Committee members:

  • Alex Johnson
  • Akmal Hisham Abdul Rahim

Nineteen endorsing organisations of Bersih 2.0 voted in the process, representing a 33% turnout from the 57 endorsing organisations of the coalition.

Thomas Fann was elected for a second term as the chairperson of Bersih 2.0. Similarly, Ann Teo, Edlyn Beverly Joeman, Ngeow Chow Ying and Alex Johnson retained their positions as vice-chair for Sarawak, vice-chair for Sabah, treasurer and committee member.

Dr Abdul Halim Yusof, the newly elected deputy chairperson, has an extensive record in medicine and academia. He has demonstrated his readiness in many political and social activities through multiple NGOs, think-tanks and was also previously part of the Bersih 2.0 steering committee.

The newly elected committee member, Akmal Hisham Abdul Rahim, is an academician excelling in the field of politics and currently also an executive committee member of the Muslim Youth Movement of Malaysia (Abim).

In his speech after the election result was announced, the chairperson of the new team on the steering committee, Thomas Fann, thanked the outgoing committee members for their dedication and tenacity throughout their term. He welcomed the newly elected and retained steering committee members for the 2020-2022 term and expressed hope that the new committee would take this coalition movement to boldly through the uncertainty amid the current political crisis and coronavirus pandemic to achieve greater heights.
