  • Jangan nafikan undi kami
  • Hentikan lompat parti
  • Pastikan Parlimen berfungsi
  • Hak rakyat untuk membantah
  • Tolak dua darjat
  • Beri pembayar cukai bersuara

– Bersih 2.0

Voters’ supremacy campaign to address weak democratic system

The Coalition for Clean and Fair Election (Bersih 2.0) laments the fact that in the current health and economic crises, political instability persists and exposes many weaknesses in our state institutions and democratic system.

Politicians continue to grab for power while the public struggle under the lockdown to stay safe from Covid and provide for themselves and their families. The Rakyat are disillusioned and feel hopeless as they witnesses political sandiwara (dramas).

Therefore, Bersih 2.0 will officially launch our ketuanan pengundi (voter supremacy) campaign to restore power to the people on 15 September 2021, in conjunction with the International Day of Democracy. The campaign will run until the next general election with the aim of generating public support and pushing political parties to adopt in their election manifesto, key reforms that would strengthen the rights of voters and democracy.

Until our official launch, we will be running a series of campaigns on social media platforms like Instagram, Twitter and Facebook and on various news portals with the theme and hashtag #KetuananPengundi. We have also designed a distinctive logo to go with our campaign.

Bersih 2.0 proposes six demands of ketuanan pengundi that should be supported and adopted by all political parties to make our democracy more robust and to allow political parties to compete on a more level playing field. The six demands are:

  1. Don’t suppress our votes
  2. Stop party ‘hopping’
  3. Make our Parliament work
  4. It is our right to dissent
  5. No double standards
  6. Give ratepayers a voice

Bersih 2.0 asserts that the Sheraton Move and the subsequent political chaos have sidelined the interest of the Rakyat and eroded our parliamentary democracy. It is time to restore our democracy by putting the interest of the Rakyat first. The Rakyat are the boss. We need to shift from racial supremacy to #VoterSupremacy! – Bersih 2.0
