Benarkan pekerja mengambil bahagian dalam penjalanan pilihan raya

Bersih 2.0 menuntut agar Kumpulan TM untuk menarik balik semula garis panduan melarang ahli atau pekerjanya untuk menjadi polling agent dan counting agent (Paca) pada pilihan raya umum nanti.

Kumpulan TM dan semua majikan lain harus sedar bahawa, hak seorang rakyat Malaysia adalah lebih daripada hanya membuang undi pada 9 Mei 2018.

Seseorang itu tidak seharusnya dihalang untuk berpatisipasi dalam proses pilihan raya seperti menjadi Paca selagi pekerja-pekerja mereka berbuat demikian di luar masa pekerjaan mereka atau semasa cuti mereka. Ini adalah hak individu sebagai rakyat, dan tiada apa-apa dalam undang-undang Malaysia yang melarang tindakan sedemikian.

Kumpulan TM dan majikan lain sepatutnya mendorong ahli atau pekerjanya untuk Paca agar intergriti pilihan raya itu dalam dipelihara dan diangkat. Partisipasi dalam pilihan raya rasa tidak diterhadkan dengan membuang undi.

Next thing, will TM tell its employees who to vote for? When they are not on duty, they are just ‘people’ who are voters. Is being a polling and /or counting agent not a right of every citizen? Is doing such work not a service to the country? TM’s action could amount to being unconstitutional as it deprives people (who happen to be its employees) their right to take part in any lawful activity when they are not on duty. TM is declaring that being a polling /counting agent is an illegal activity for its employees. Has TM the right to do so?
