The United Nations Association of Malaysia (UNAM) views with grave concern the recently announced policy of the Trump administration to deny, dissolve and desecrate the Palestine homeland.
Further the suggestion to evacuate the Palestine people from their legitimate homeland and resettle them elsewhere is diabolical, bereft of merit and highly provocative. It suggests ‘ethnic cleansing’.
These predatory, preposterous and irresponsible actions of the current Trump administration go against the grain of consistent and established efforts by the world community, including previous US administrations, to safeguard, preserve and promote the interests of the Palestine people in an amicable, sustainable and equitable two-state solution.
The fundamental right of the people of Palestine to their homeland cannot be frittered away with arbitrary, deplorable and unjust proposals.
The UNAM calls on the world community especially international organisations and the UN General Assembly to come out in full force to condemn and deplore this highly arbitrary action to deprive the Palestine people of their legitimate homeland.
Further, the international community must endeavour to take definite steps to fulfil the imperatives of Resolution 242 of the UN Security Council of 22 November 1967. There cannot be any compromise or deviation from that important resolution.
