Sungai Ara residents’ 10-year legal battle against hill project vindicated!

Sungai Ara residents struggle on in 2017 - ANIL NETTO

We have fought this legal battle for 10 years, and thanks to all residents in Sungai Ara and environmentalists who have given us encouragement and motivational support.

Thanks a million to our strong and knowledgeable legal team – Gurdial Singh Nijar, Meenakshi Raman, Jessica Ram Binwani and team – for all the hard work put in to make a victorious landmark victory to STOP all housing developments on sensitive hill land and preserve the green environment.

We are very grateful to the Federal Court judges for their wise and holistic decision in upholding the integrity of the law on sensitive hill land. This is a landmark victory to protect and preserve sensitive hill land in this country, ie land exceeding 76 metres above sea level and exceeding a 25-degree gradient .

The government, developers and all residents have to do their part to preserve and protect the sea and marine environment against the adverse effects of severe climate change.

I could barely sleep well last night in anticipation of today.

My tears of joy could not stop flowing when the Federal Court judges delivered their final judgment.

This is the BEST Chinese New Year gift ever to all the Sungai Ara residents and to the residents in Penang and nationwide.
