Home minister must not interfere with police chief’s effort to clean the force

Patriot is totally disgusted with corruption that is endemic in public administration and in the government

Hamid Bador - THE STAR

It is unbecoming of Home Minister Hamzah Zainuddin to have contradicted Inspector General of Police Hamid Bador after the latter said there was a group of young officers in the force linked to the cartels trying to humiliate and topple him.

In his rebuff of the inspector general, the home minister mentioned there was no police cartel.

Whereas in his statement during the interview with Sinar Harian on 17 March, the inspector general said the young officers in the force were linked to cartels (outside) and worked towards destroying his image so they could continue with their dirty work.

Obviously, the minister did not understand what the inspector general was saying or he was clueless about what was happening in the force.

Discipline and personnel management are internal police matters. The inspector general had made a serious statement, which should not be taken lightly. The inspector general has his own ways of tackling the problems in the force, and the minister should not interfere.

The inspector general had been trying hard to clear the image of the police force since he assumed office in 2019. Patriot has the highest regard for him and supports what he is doing.

We are totally disgusted with corruption that is endemic in public administration and in the government. To this end, we support the Rasuah Busters campaign and urge Malaysians to also participate.

The IGP is retiring in early May – there is no news of any extension of his tenure.
He had 2 years to clean up the police force.
Sad to say, I believe he has failed.

Patriot has high regards for him, perhaps Patriot has information not in the public domain.
The Home Minister is hinting the IGP should ride quietly into the sunset?
Then it will be business as usual for the….
