G25 Malaysia is proud to announce the launch of our latest publication, G25 Statements (2014-2023).

This occasion was marked by a forum entitled “Institutional reforms and the Federal Constitution for a better Malaysia”, held in the clubhouse of the University of Malaya’s Alumni Association (PAUM) on 25 May.

The forum followed the launch of our book, which was officiated by Tunku Zain Al’-Abidin Ibni Tuanku Muhriz, who delivered the keynote address. Our line-up of panel members, who delved into specific areas of institutional reforms, included Dr Azmi Sharom, deputy chairperson of the Malaysian Electoral Commission; Liyana Marzuki, a political activist and writer; Dr Syed Alwee Alsagoff, a fellow with the National Professors Council (MPN) and Dr KJ John, an ex-Administrative and Diplomatic Services officer, civil activist and founder of the Oriental Hearts and Mind Study Institute (OHMSI).

The forum brought together stakeholders from various sectors to engage in constructive dialogue on the issues we have long been advocating for these past 10 years.

Our book represents a culmination of G25’s efforts – through our public statements since G25’s formation in December 2014 – to champion critical issues facing Malaysia’s future as a constitutional democracy, founded on the principles of justice, rule of law, and fundamental liberties.

This book is curated into 10 themes ranging from the law and the Constitution to the economy, human rights, good governance and health.

We look forward to having the public experience our statements in the form of a completed book so they can get a birds-eye view of whether time and changes in government have made a difference in the implementation of institutional reforms which we, and many others, have fought for over the years.

Despite the long road we have had, G25’s book is evidence of our consistent effort to address pressing concerns, no matter the government of the day, as we reflect the majority sentiment that Malaysia must uphold its constitutional freedoms to ensure societal and economic confidence from all sectors.

We appreciate the encouragement that our friends and other civil society organisations have given us and the support the public has shown. For those who are interested in getting a copy of our book, drop us an email at [email protected]

We look forward to another 10 years with you – always for a better Malaysia. – G25 Malaysia
