A report on the first 100 days of the ‘unity government’

Anwar and his deputies Zahid and Fadillah

The CSO Platform for Reform, a collective of 60 civil society organisations (CSOs) in Malaysia, is releasing its report on the first 100 days of the “unity government”.

The report highlights four core priority areas, including governance leadership, institutions, Parliament and state legislative assemblies, and key law or policies.

The CSO Platform recognises the importance of strong public institutions in safeguarding public interest and promoting efficient governance amid political turmoil. As such, the report aims to provide recommendations to the government based on the aspirations of people on the ground.

The report acknowledges that the Malaysian political landscape has become increasingly volatile in recent years and stresses the need for serious institutional reform. The first 100 days of any new government sets the tone for what the public can expect, and we took it upon ourselves to monitor the government’s statements, comments and commitments during this critical period.

“The 100 Days of the unity government report” is an observatory analysis on these four core reforms, aiming to present the Malaysia Madani (civil Malaysia) government’s achievements and its work on reforms that are not immediately seen.

We hope that our recommendations will supplement and inform the government’s work, and hold it accountable towards honouring its election promises and manifestos. We also hope to hand this report to the prime minister in person.

The CSO Platform for Reform remains committed to working with the government towards achieving meaningful reforms and changes that will benefit the people.

May this report propel both the people and the government towards a nation that embodies sustainability, prosperity, innovation, respect, trust and compassion.
