Selamat Hari Malaysia from Pusat Komas!
This year is the 57th year of Malaysia Day – the day that forged the three nations into one state of Malaysia.
It is on this day we celebrate the formation of this beautiful and diverse country with distinct identities and separate autonomy functions in some aspects of governance. This is what we are proud of, our country, our Malaysia.
While the design of our country, based on the Malaysian Agreement 1963, is meant to keep us together as a country, we are still way off the mark in proving “Prihatin Malaysia” (Concerned Malaysia) for all Malaysians.
If we are to celebrate Malaysia Prihatin, which is the theme chosen by the government for this year’s celebration, then much more serious soul-searching needs to be done by those in power to address the root cause of the issue that is dividing all Malaysians – divide and rule using racial and religious politics.
It is now time for us to move away from the colonial political game of divide and rule played by senior politicians and to truly rely on the true young warriors of Malaysia who are truly “prihatin” for the present and the future. Their views and voices will pave the way for a more inclusive and equal nation for all Malaysians and not favour only the majority!
Malaysia is a nation in progress whose growth should not be hindered by political games devoid of respect for democracy and human rights. It is now time for us to embrace the spirit of the Malaysian Agreement to ensure a better Malaysia for all Malaysians!
Selamat Hari Malaysia. This is our nation.
