Condolences on the demise of Allahyarham Tuan Guru Dato’ Haron Din

We, the undersigned civil society groups, hereby express our deepest condolences to the families, friends and comrades of Allahyarham Tuan Guru Dato’ Haron Din as well as the leadership and members of Pas upon his demise.

May Allahyarham’s soul be blessed abundantly by Allah.

Whilst we may differ with Allahyarham on many issues, we nonetheless acknowledge his contribution in our public life, as Malaysia is a plural society and belongs to every Malaysian regardless of his/her spiritual and political belief.

Whilst we may differ in faith, we are all brothers and sisters in humanity and as compatriots.

We regret that a few of our fellow Malaysians have made some very insensitive comments on Allahyarham’s demise. Those comments go against the general respect for the dead, which is a decorum practised in all faiths and cultures. We must never let our political affiliations and passions strip away our sense of ethics and decency.

We respectfully urge them to reflect on their behaviour. Families and friends of the deceased or any deceased person should not endure such grievous comments during their time of grief.
